Collinite is great. The SiO2 does keep clean better than anything though.
Which SiO2 do you like to use?

Re: Mother Natures Car Wash and Ceramic Coatings

This is my dilemma. I do the finish coat of 845 twice/yr. In the fall, my garaged vehicles all bead like new still. The only reason I do the fall tx is because I live in CT. Cars either get put away or endure nasty winter CaCl2 etc. How much better can it get? 1x/yr? Ahh, but in tne real world we do get swirls etc so 2x/ yr is ideal to keep things nice looking

Tough question to answer quickly. The expensive ones bead/clean the best in my brief experience (IGL Premiere, PA Cosmic Spritz and PA High Gloss are the ones I can mention here). I’ll also add in PA carnauba arts such as Gold Zircon (contains carnauba) which has similar performance but not quite as good.

But the more affordable ones (BF SiO2, BF Coating Booster, Hydro Blue, 10 Minute Paint Sealant, CMX) are still solid at self/cleaning too. My experience with all of these is still a work in progress and will continue using and observing all summer... but there’s been plenty of rain to make initial observations already.

Sorry this was a wishy-washy answer.

    Update

I took these pictures last Thursday I believe. I was off on Friday, so I think it was Thursday. This would have been in the morning, about 7:30am as I walked through the parking lot to my car.

The Honda CR-V was in the shade.

Near as my wife Stacy and I can tell we coated this back in November of 2018. It may have been September, but I doubt it was December. IF it was November of 2018 and as I type it's end of June of 2019, that's easily 7 months.

I'm not even a fan of water beading because it can lead to Type II water spots, either crater etchings or imprint rings, BUT if you are washing and drying your car, the surface tension makes washing faster and drying faster.

And coatings last longer and also look glassier than most waxes and sealants.

Just washed the Honda - gave some products to test.

Last time it was washed Mother Nature washed it.

I just blasted the body panels to remove any loose dirt (normal best practice).

I have not put a mitt to the paint yet. Here’s water beading.

    Not bad!

Next I washed it with a new product I stated in a recent review that I really liked.

    Pics tomorrow.
