How to remove overspray while washing your car

How to remove overspray while washing your car

Last Saturday we wetsanded a 1929 Model A Streetrod. The car arrived covered in dust. It was so covered in dust that I didn't think using a waterless or rinseless wash would work well enough to thoroughly clean all the cracks and crevices so I chose to wash this streetrod instead.

My default method of washing cars is to use a foam gun. I like how it slathers on a layer of foam plus it makes washing fun and more interesting in pictures. So first we foamed the Model A and then did a normal wash job using the Alien Worm wash mitts, also my favorite for doing a Prep Wash.

Using the 1/2 gallon foam gun to foam down a streetrod

Loosening all the dirt and dust with Microfiber Chenille Wash Mitts

AFTER THOROUGH RINSING OF THE LOOSENED DIRT - Re-foaming the Model A for the decontamination step.

Using Nanoskin Wash Mitts and Nanoskin Towels to rub off the overspray paint using the foam as a lubricant.

If you've always used detailing clay after you've washed and dried your car, the above is a way you can do the same thing while saving steps and in my opinion, doing a better job.
