Re: Should I get a pressure washer?

I'd get one with a foam cannon and good soap. Check out the Karcher follow me around, I think is the name. Read good reviews here about it, because some complain here it's a pain to drag out the washer and connect it for a wash.

The pressure washer is a godsend. Helps shift debris and grime without having to physically touch the vehicle which is when most micromarring is caused.
I picked up my Karcher from the Karcher Outlet here in the U.K. which refurbs the machines and sells them on. Three years later my £30 (new £120) is still going strong, that and along with the foam lance help shift 95% of the dirt before you even touch the vehicle with a wash mitt and two buckets.
If at first you don't succeed have a pint of Guinness and a very large Irish whiskey, think about it then try again, repeat till either the job is done or you are done.

Not if it's used properly, IMO.

    Definitely get yourself a pressure
    washer. Besides spraying down
vehicles...It can be used for many
    other tasks around the house.

Don't let the scare stories mislead you. The only time a pressure washer will do harm to your car paint is if you've got a catastrophic failure of the clearcote or heavy rust already.
With that said using a pressure washer and lance correct usage is a must, don't get too close using the lance direct on, don't use too close around joins or where electrical equipment may be or window seals, don't spray direct on at the grille (try to do it at a 45 degree angle if you need to get relatively close in, but generally the joins and grilles as with other intricate areas, use a detailing brush with degreaser sprayed on and work round the edges and then in, use the pressure washer to merely rinse any debris away).
Common sense is a valuable tool and key to doing things correctly

With lowered pressure and the gentle tip, great way to wash a cat.
