This was years ago: I wound up swirling my paint using the two bucket method. There wasn't enough lube nor clean water. Ever since then I use a foam gun and multiple mitts. I no longer experience swirls in my paint this way. I admit the method is extreme and time consuming but I'd rather spend time washing than polishing.

You will be fine with a two bucket. I have yet to have swirls using this method. Although I do incorporate a foam gun during the wash process.

Any soap will work just fine. Preferably one that contains no waxes or gloss enhancers.

As far as a waterless/rinseless wash again you have options and the technology has advanced to avoid swirls. Like everything it should be done in the right conditions, meaning not heavily dirty.

With that said you have Carpro EcH20 which can be used as a waterless, rinseless, quick detailer. Pretty versatile as it will leave gloss due to the silica in the formula.

McKee’s N914 is great. It will clean and leave nothing behind on the surface. It will out clean EcH20.

McKee’s SiO2 Rinseless wash is very good. Similar to EcH20 but with the added benefit of leaving pretty stout protection. Can be used as a waterless and quick detailer as well. You would not need any additional topper if you choose this option.

    .
You’re a lot more of a risk taker than me. I don’t chance it any more especially with dark colored paint. I’d much rather spend hours washing than polishing.

I would say the slicker the soap the better. Best to experiment and find one that suits you.

I tend to agree. On my black cars I've seen little/no marring from a two bucket wash as long as I'm careful. My biggest threat is snow removal...now that will get me some marring no matter how careful I try to be.
