    Griots 6" DA polisher

I have a griots 6" DA polisher. Can I use 3"inch pads on it? Can I just put the 3" pad on or do I have to change the backing plate?

You have to change the backing plate so you can see what the pad is doing

While you are at it, get a 5" backing plate too so you can use 5.5" pads. You'll like it a lot better than the 6.5" pads.

For the 3" pads get the 3" backing plate. It is actually about 2 7/8, so you have a little room on the edges still. You have to be careful with the backing plate that much closer to the edge of the pad though, so pay attention.

Agreed. On the 3" backing plate on the GG6 it is a little hard to see the mark because of the shroud, so I also like to mark the side of the pad.

I've got one of the first version GG6's that you can't change the backing plate on, rather annoying and it gets very little use as I really only use for applying waxes and sealants. I kinda wish the thing would break and I could take them up on their offer of a lifetime warranty.

Haha it works perfectly fine though, I just rarely use 6" pads any more. Maybe I could think if something a little less obvious than a hammer though....
