Where are you feeling the heat? What was the weather like, or how warm was your garage?

I used my G15 a couple weeks ago to polish out my car and never felt any heat at all, granted it was only in the 60's~low 70's at the time, but I didn't feel anything. My old HF DA would get hot after extended use and in the summer when the garage was in the 80's it would really heat up.

Used it again today. Had to use an extension cord but I used one of the most heavy duty ones I had. It’s where the brushes are that got hot. Never went above 5 and tried to keep it at 4. When my helper picked it up, she oMost dropped it saying, ‘it sure gets hot.’

That would be the expected spot that would get hot.

    Re: G9 gets hot

I also noticed the G9 getting very warm when I first used it. I discovered that I was blocking the air intake with one hand and blocking exhaust vent with my other hand. I changed my grip and made sure that the vents were clear and it ran a lot cooler. The intake vent is located just below the speed selector dial. The exhaust is located near the pad. All fan cooled electric motors need to breathe and they have an internal fan to move air across the stator. If that air flow is blocked, it can cause overheating.
I believe in treating everybody with respect, and clean cars. That’s what I believe in.

    Re: G9 gets hot

Took some temperature readings after using my G9 to do some polishing yesterday. Temperature outside was 80-85. These were just after turning it off. Wasn't going try taking temperatures and pictures with the machine running but the spot that was 108 saw up to 130 while running for a few minutes.

    Re: G9 gets hot

Finally emailed to see if it should be getting so hot after trying holding a few ways. Their answer, don’t use it if it gets hot. Customer service my #$$.

    Re: G9 gets hot

Center of the pad mount on mine gets hot fast even if I baby it, which makes pad hot in middle
