    Griots G8

Hi folks, i just purchased a G8, what can you tell me about it?

It won't arrive for another 2 weeks.

Can i use it to apply gyeon primer with a 3 inch carpro gloss pad? Of course it will take longer but probably more fun - i have lots of time.

First step idea is 3D one on a medium pad with the griot's G15. First gen. i think.

I bought 4 pads for the G8 which comes with 2 and 3 inch plates.

1 medium cutting and finishing pad for each plate. 3 inch carpro, 2 inch Buff and shine.

A 3” g8 is not designed to do a whole car. More designed for spit correction or tight areas like a pillars and bumper sections.

    G9 would serve you better.

With either one you will need alot more pads. For me at minimum ine per panel.

Only time i would use one pad is if i were applying a sealant,

I do my cars in sections and take my time. Its simple to use 1-2 pads just do 2-3 panels per day and clean the pad(s) for the next day. Its a much more relaxing and enjoyable experience then trying to detail a whole car in one single day. Not my style.

Lots of pads are nice but IMHO its not necessary.

The reason i might try to use primer has a finishing step with a 3 inch polisher, is the light weight and also you can focus/see more, so to speak at what your doing...maybe

I think if you used a polisher properly sized for the work, you would make far more progress with far less effort and make better use of your time.

With a full size polisher like the G9 you can do an average car door in 2~3 sections and it will only only take you around minutes. Even taking my time and doing it in small steps, I don't think I could ever get through polishing an entire car with a 3" polisher. It would be a very frustrating experience.

Yeah your probably right. I might try it, just to see if i like it. Thinking about using it on a door to see if it will work for me.

I'll be using my G15 with 3D One for the first step.

Its just an idea i had yesterday. I will have lots of time on my hands next week - 6 week vacation. I'm definitely not looking for high efficiency. Just good results.

If you have a G15 it's a whole different story. I'd think that would be the weapon of choice for any large area like a door, hood, etc. Using a 3" pad would frustrating and might not get the same levels of correction you need without a lot of work.

I'm not looking for correction with primer. Its a white nissian, i will be happy with 3D one with a medium pad. I will probably try 1 small area with the 3 inch.

But your probably right it will take to long to breakdown primer with the 3 inch.

I will practice with the 3 inch by applying a wax.

Thanks, starting to feel like a hair brained idea now lol

What you will find though is how much you do use the G8 for the smaller panels on the car.
If you have a motorcycle it is your best friend.
I am surprised how much I do use it.

I want the new version so it matches my G9.
I know I don't need it but it would look nice next to it.
