    And then... There was a G8 (Polisher)

    Just saw on the Griot’s What’s New page that they’re rolling out a new 2”/3” polisher - The G8.

    8mm orbit, comes with both 2 and 3” backing plates. 700 watt, 6 amp motor. Quick disconnect cord and digital speed control like the G9. Trigger switch with speed dial.

    Should be interesting to see how this fits for people looking for a smaller machine.

    Wow thats awesome! And laid out like a full size machine with trigger to boot!

    This really really sets the bar for a small machine.

    I can imagine the full size Boss machines will receive the same treatment.

    Forgot to add - $129.99. Nice to see them keep the price one the lower end.

    How much better is this then the current model? I received the current version a few months ago. I wasn’t expecting much but have to say it’s not very good. I love Griots products but this isn’t one of them.

    They say 45% stronger gear set, the same fan cooled counter balance assembly concept as the G9. Comes with the 2" backing plate in the box. I think the digital speed controller is a sweet feature.

    Briarpatch shared on the other forum:
    GG3 = 240 watt motor and a 5mm throw
    G8 = 700 watt motor and an 8mm throw

    For frame of reference, the old GG6 had an 850 watt, 7 amp motor, and an 8mm throw.

    I'll buy it. Been eyeballing a 3" polisher for awhile now.

    I agree, it looks pretty good and should be a massive improvement over the previous GG3.
