Agreed, good luck with contours on speed 3.

I was thinking of trying the 2 inch backing plate for some of the dips & contours. It's the width of the pad causing me to bind up. AG has some 2 in pads.

I got my replacement back from GG. It feels better. Stalls a little less. The button is nice and crisp. I only spent 3 hours with it, but I'm liking this one better.

Re: And then... There was a G8 (Polisher)

My replacement G8 broke again. I got about 8 hours out of it before the trigger lock button popped out. I couldn't get it back on. GG is sending me a new one. It's getting tedious sending it back and stopping in the middle of my project. I bought a more expensive one finally. The G8 is really a nice machine to have such a flimsy trigger lock. Lifetime warranty can often mean that you will be returning it for a lifetime. I still like Griot's but they blew it here and need to redesign or shore up that trigger lock button.

Thanks for the follow-up. Good thing to know.

I hope Griot's is listening on this one.........

Re: And then... There was a G8 (Polisher)

The new G9 and G8 seem to be tarnishing the reputation earned by the previous models. Then again, correcting problems and pushing through engineering changes is harder to do in this time of the pandemic, and compounded if your manufacturing partner is oceans away. This new gen looks like it might be OEM'd by Shine Mate (Yongkang Pritronic). Adam's new polishers look related too.

Yeah seems new machines have missed the mark. Haven’t really heard of two much bad on g8 though. G9 some what..... new long throws definitely.

Re: And then... There was a G8 (Polisher)

Is Griots still doing the 'trade in' thing for older models? I have my GG3 and well...i basically just use it to apply wax cause its so weak. I use my old GG6 with small 3 inch plate to do the work the GG3 should be....

Do they accept trade ins still? And is it worth it for the new G8?

Call them and ask them. I'll bet they would. That's what I did. I didn't save that much but I got some pads & polish I forget what else. They actually answer the phone over there and fairly quickly. I've been having trouble with mine though. When it is working it's got more power. I'm hoping they work the bugs out. They are quick to send replacements.
