I know, a tough choice, and probably not sensible to have both machines, at least not at first.
BOTH machines are excellent choices but i give the nod to the GG6 because of the versatility as GG doesn't recommend using any other size backing plate other than the 5" and 6" with G9 (second video below at 10:20 mark). with that said, the GG6 is like having a few machines in one and for someone who doesn't own any other polisher, it would make more sense at this time. by all means, when more funds are available i would purchase the G9 as well! btw, i love my GG6 and could never part with it. i've mentioned many times before that every detailer/enthusiast should own at least one pc-style DA polisher in their detailing arsenal and still believe it...

No it ain't! It's the man behind the machine largely.

How about the backing plate for the small pads?

microfiber towels, foam applicators, rinseless wash concentrate (use for multiple applications such as quick detailer, waterless wash and what the name implies) and a few other things if you haven't already have them..

Re: Help build a G9 “kit”
I just went through the same thing as you deciding what to get about a month or so ago, brianc636.
If I had access the same deal as you can get on the GG6 now, I would definitely have gone the same way VISITOR suggested too. I wish prices where better on this stuff up here :/

Re: Help build a G9 “kit”
I have a swirl killer mini (designed like the gg6). And a boss G15 (like A g9). For doing a car in one sitting the new ergonomics of the g9 and weight cutting make a far better polisher. I do like the ability to mod down to a 3” especially if you decide on second (I like the long throw). I spent a good chunk on machines but coulda did worse.
If I were doing it all over today would go G9 with a dedicated 3 inch. Probably the new flex pixie. I’ve tried the lake country flats, CCS and Boss pads and the boss is a better pad in my opinion. Haven’t tried the thin pros which are probably same better. Either way whatever most people buy will get the job done. Just don’t cheap out on pads or product. Their more important than the machine.
Lastly with the Gg6 90% of what I read most people’s opinion is to go from the 6.5 to the 5.5 backing plate

Re: Help build a G9 “kit”
I ended up canceling my order and re-ordering everything with 5.5” pads (LC flat).
I got mostly orange, a couple of black ones and a couple of blue ones.
I’m sure I’ll end up with more pads once I do one of our vehicles.
Thanks everyone.
