I only use my g6 a few times of year so it's probably not even worth upgrading but I have the itch for the latest! The only way I would upgrade though is through their program...I wouldn't keep the g6 to be strictly 3" and then also buy the g9.
From what i’ve read no 3” plate for the g9. Gotta get a g8 also.

I read a review of a guy being on his 5th power cord. Anyone else having problems with them?
    $187 - $87 + $80 = $180. How did you get $93 for the amount spent out of pocket?

Re: Just Received My GG G9

Lol! You caught my mistake there. Sorry, I grabbed my scratch pad and entered numbers wrong (entered 180-87=93) Yesterday I ended up spending $187 of which $87 will be refunded when old one is returned so $100 in the end, not $93.

I understand I spent 80 as well on the old one originally. Just talking about what I was out of pocket as of cost of upgrade, not all in costs of both. Hope that makes more sense.

Just on horizontal surfaces usually if the person using a small pad on a large tool is not FOCUSED on the task at hand.

For vertical panels, because you're holding the tool up AND then pushing it against the paint it's less of an issue.

Here's my article on this topic, hard to believe I wrote this way back in 2012

So would a 3" on a G9 be ok if being used for small/tight areas or a 3" shouldn't be used at all on a G9?

I'm trying to figure out if I should upgrade my G6 to a G9? I want to be able to use 3" and 5".

Also, I feel like the shroud would be too much in the way with a 3” backing plate.

Griot’s said to not use a 3” BP on the G9. Of course they want you to buy the G8 but I would not be comfortable with the BP/Pad invisible behind the large shroud of the G9.

Re: Just Received My GG G9

I think I'll just keep my 6 then. I was just trying to take advantage of the upgrade program but I really only use the 6 a couple of times a year. Probably not worth the money for me to upgrade anyways. I'm a weekend warrior that likes to keep my vehicles nice but don't have the time to keep it perfect. I also don't use it for business or other people's vehicles.
