if it was me with a GG6, and for the money in trade, I'd likely pass the 6" off to a friend.
That such a giving gift might very well come back in a very nice way.
A win-win situation.

As for me , I am back having just used my new GG9 with my experience using it, having done so yesterday in beginning to wax my fifth wheel. First, in general terms I can say WOW what a difference from my previous GG6. First, my experience with my GG6 was a good one and it served me well. In using the GG9 I found it to be more ergonomically easier to use and made it easier and natural for me to use, even a real joy. The power of this machine is superb and I suspect will be very effective for heavier correcting tasks. I am in the process of a two step process on my 5th wheel, yesterday I applied McGuiars Flagship Marine Cleaner wax followed by applying McGuiars Flagship Marine Wax. With the first step, I only had minor correcting and because of the power of this machine I found speed setting #4 all that was needed, where as my prior application with the GG6 I had to use #5 to achieve the same results. As far as vibration goes, a machine of this additional power is going to have some vibration, but I was amazed that it seemed to vibrate less. As far as noise level goes, not having done a decibel test between the two machines, I cannot say which is louder, but the GG9 did not appear to be any noisier than the GG6. Finally the .5 pound decrease in weight was evident and appreciated by me.
I have also received my g9. I'm keeping my gg6 because it's worth more 50.00 to me
Hermes1 - Glad to hear you’re digging it!
When you mentioned you were recovering from an injury, I was thinking you’d appreciate how easy it is to handle.
I don’t remember my GG6 ever being hard to manage, but the G9 makes you notice how easy it is to use however you want to hold it.
Can you guys tell me what are your favorite or best combination of Backing Plates and Pads?
Thanks in advance...
So I called today about the buyback. Total charge was $187 ($87 of which will be refunded once they receive my GG6 back). I only paid $80 for my GG6, so this brought a new GG9 down to $93 spent lol. I went ahead and tacked on a 5" vented backing plate for another $20. Looking forward to getting it. I read a review of a guy being on his 5th power cord. Anyone else having problems with them?
Has anyone tried using a 3" plate and pad? I'd like to take advantage of the upgrade program but my g6 is my only machine so it gets used for 5" and 3" and griot's does not recommend the 3".
I only use my g6 a few times of year so it's probably not even worth upgrading but I have the itch for the latest! The only way I would upgrade though is through their program...I wouldn't keep the g6 to be strictly 3" and then also buy the g9.
That puts me all in @ 33% off. I'm good with that.
