Which polisher for a new guy?

Hey everyone, this is my first post. I’ve always liked keeping a clean looking car and I’m interested in getting into polishing. I want to remove some hologram/spider webbing but have some older vehicles I want to try and improve. Anyway I’ve looked at polishers non stop and don’t really know what I need. The gg6 looks like it would do well and can also take a 3” backing plate for tight spots. I’ve also looked at Flex. Any recommendations?

+3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and to infinity and beyond! Great starter DA and does the job pretty good for the money! Lifetime warranty helps too!

Most of us started on a Porter Cable 7424XP and that was my first machine. Now I use the Griots GG6 and I wish that was my first machine. Great power, great performance and a great price. A Flex or a Rupes would be a great upgrade someday but it is probably too expensive for a beginner.

Thanks everyone. That’s what I was leaning toward. Do you all recommend the 3” backing plate and pads for tough spots?

Yes. Get the Griots 3” HD Backing plate & Lake Country Thinpro Pads. You want to start off with at least a 6pk. of them. 3 compound/2 polish/1 black pad. That worked for me.

And start yourself off with a 5” Griots vented backing plate for the polisher. Don’t bother buying 6” pads for the backing plate it comes with.
