    Brushes on 6 inch buffer

I have the 6 inch buffer and only do mine and my daughters cars maybe used it 4 or 5 times and the brushes are shot. Is this normal if so I don't like the idea of always buying brushes.

When you say you have a

    6 inch buffer

The one that comes to my mind is the Griot's Garage 6" Random Orbital Polisher - that's because it has the 6" in the name of the tool.

Reality is - its' an 8mm free spinning random orbital polisher that simply comes with a 6" backing plate.

Is this the tool you have?

And if so - the answer is NO this is not normal. I have 2 DOZEN of these tools that I use in my classes and I don't remember changing brushes for any of them yet and they get ABUSED!

The above is just ONE picture from this thread,

TOOLS! - Can you count all the tools?

That's the machine. Oh and one side of machine the brush was really burnt, I could smell it a couple of times but it went away and ran ok. But now it will stop running on low speeds.

    That doesn't sound right.

Sometimes if storage is very humid you can get oxidation on the brushes and they wear down faster that way. And it's extreme cases. So if not any extreme storage it's could be a manufacturing problem. And it's best to call or mail Griots Garage as they have an awesome warrenty on their tools.
