Re: Purchasing a Flex XC3401: Could Use Some Help with Pads

Ditto for the hybrid pads. I have had my flex for just a year and bought the hybrids based on the forum feedback. Had a chance to use my older CCS and flat LC pads --- what I used on the 7424 -- and they did not work as well. Frankly, I didn't like them with the flex.

The hybrids are the way to go with the flex.

    Good luck.

Re: Purchasing a Flex XC3401: Could Use Some Help with Pads

Taking peoples feedback from on here led me to getting the Hybrids in both the 6.5" and 5" pads in every color and at least 5 of each.

But....I used the 6.5" once on my hood and then tried the 5" pads the same day on the other half of the hood. I never touched the 6.5" again. It is way more ergonomic, feels smoother when operating the machine and DOES NOT WALK!

Like everyone said, Flat panels would be better off with the 6.5" but I personally dont mind adding a little extra time and using the 5" to benefit from the pros stated above. My $0.02

Second reason for favouring 5" is switching out pads and backing plates when using both sizes of pads on one car. I just find that annoying. Now, if you had two flex polishers I would be all for getting both sizes!

Correct. They work great with rotary buffers too....

    Thank you for the recommendation.

In my how-to book I strongly recommend getting the LC Hybrid pads. To start with get

    1. Orange
    2. White
    3. Black

You can tackle anything with this combination. Next get the 4" backing plate and adapter kit from Lake Country. I also strongly recommend this in my how-to book.

For what it's worth... I rarely make strong recommendations.

How to use the Flex 3401 for Show Car Detailing

This old 2-door Chrysler was buffed from start to finish with nothing but the Flex 3401. That includes mechanically decontaminating the paint, compounding, polishing and machine waxing.
