    Do a search on the Flex here on AGO and you'll receive some preventative measure to ensure longevity from the Flex. Since I do not own a Flex I do not know the specifics but be sure the backing plate is always tightened and also apply some oil to the felt ring behind the BP. Again, a search will yield more useful information.

    i wouldn't regret the purchase one bit. while some have had problems with the backing plate, it's just a small percentage of the many who own a Flex...
