I know that I have seen somewhere on the forum that Flex is owned by a Chinese company. My understanding was that the motors are now being made in China. Thanks for any information because it will influence my buying decision. Flex or Rupes 3”.

While researching Flex, they are indeed owned by Chevron, a Chinese company. Also found out that Lowes will be selling Flex polishers this spring.

While it would be great to have everything made right here in the USA, those days are long gone.

That said, the old mindset of equating all "Made in China" products with cheap crap is also long gone.

Certain "brand snobs" that put down other products as being inferior because they are manufactured (in whole, or in part) in China are fooling themselves.

A friend who sourced handheld electric grinding products from China for worldwide sales....actually restarted USA production for North American distribution again. With China wages going up and the cost of shipping, it equaled the delivered cost of making it here. That was done 3 years ago, well before the current headaches.

I agree that Japan makes some excellent items. However, I guess my question on purchasing something made in China versus Italy was answered. My personal preference is to TRY and minimize my purchases from China. My Jeep and Jockey t-shirts are made in USA. Are parts in my Jeep made in China? Probably. From the information previously submitted It looks like I’ll be buying a Rupes LHR 15 mark III and a 75E. Things could be worse.

I’ve been using the heck out of my Flex CBeast and Pxe polishing home theater subwoofers. They work great and and I wouldn’t hesitate to buy more. I did not realize they were Chinese made when I purchased but now that I’ve used them, they seem incredibly well built to me.
