CBeast on its way!!! Pad ?’s

So I finally was able to order a CBeast. Debated between this and the new Supa Beast. Decided cordless was the way to go being that I already have a Beast OG!

My questions is for those that have a CBeast.... what pad size are you using? 5.5 or 6.5? I’m thinking 5.5 would be better suited for a battery operated machine. I typically use and prefer 6.5 on The Beast. LC Force Hybrids are my pad of choice. These work great for me on rotary, long throw FS DA’s and forced rotation dual action machines.

    Any input is much appreciated.

    thank you
    Jim

    I'll chime in,

I have some prototype pads from LC to test, sad to say I have not got to it. They are a tick larger than the 5.5" HDO and SDO but not as larger as the 6.5" HDO and SDO

I've used a lot of the pads on the market and about a 6" is really optimal.

Believe it or not, the RUPES 6" pads are a good fit of small and larger. Next I would say the Buff & Shine Uro-Tech.

    These,

NEW! - Buff and Shine Uro-Tec Foam Pad System for all long throw orbital polishers!

The main thing is the FEEL for how the tool buffs. Too small of a pad face and it's kind of wonky. Too large of pad and it's too much pad for the batter/direct-drive.

I hope to test the new pads from LC as soon as I can make it happen.

Thanks, Mike. I know exactly what you mean by “wonky”. It’s one reason I prefer the 6.5 inch pads on the Beast over the 5.5 inch.

Actually have a bunch of the uro-tech pads that I forgot about.

    I’ll give em a shot.

Congratulations on the new addition to the family Dr Oldz.

I haven’t tried anything other than LC & RUPES pads on the CBEAST but as far as my experience goes - SDO pads from LC I have a sweet spot for but my favourite for chopping are their Low Lint Wool pads, they work & feel brilliant on the CBEAST. And as Mike touched on - for a big of “co mingling” the RUPES pads are bang on too.

The new CBEAST and Supa Beast come with 5" backing plates.

The original XC 3401 VRG or The BEAST - comes with a 5.5" backing plate.

I've used all these tools extensively an my experience is go with the factory plate and 5.5" or 6" pads on the CBEAST

For the Supa BEAST - get the larger backing plate option. Because this is a CORDED tool you might as well take advantage of the available power and turn and churn larger pads.

Here's my article on this topic,

I have tried a ton of pads on the C-Beast now. Mike, you were spot on with the Uro-tech pads. The 5 inch hook and loop is easy to center on the factory installed 5 inch backing plate. The 6 inch pad face covers a perfect area and makes the machine run super smooth. They also cut/polish/finish really well which is the most important factor.

So for anyone looking for the best pads, I would say these are it as of 4/23/2020. Something different may come out on the future tho.
