    Flex PE14-2 Leaking

I noticed today that something is leaking out from inside of my PE14. It looks like oil. Is this bad news? Should I try to take it apart to see what’s going on? I have only used this machine maybe 6 times.

    That certainly is not normal.

What kind of warranty does FLEX offer?
It is no coincidence that man's best friend cannot talk.

12 months. I believe they sometimes make exceptions. As little use as this tool has as long as it hasn't been dropped or damaged by misuse they might try to help.

Clean it up and use it again while checking it every time you add more product. I had the same on one of mine and it was a one time thing. Excess on the outside of the gear housing from factory. It took the heat awhile to get it to run out. That was 2 years ago.

Thank you so much for the info above. I was looking into the warranty and DaveT is correct at 12 mo. I was hoping for a longer period.

I will use it again and monitor as suggested. There is an authorized repair center a couple hours from me so I will take it to them if it continues.

I really love this tool so I’m really bummed.

It may just be some of the oils separating from the gear grease or from the machining oils left on The gears. Unless it is leaking a lot, I wouldn’t be too worried

If it's out of warranty take it apart. Clean out all the grease and repack with quality grease.

You'll likely be good for several years and then do it again.

    Re: Flex PE14-2 Leaking

Probably not that unusual for any power tool, a drill, grinder, polisher. Heat, caused by both use, and by sitting in a warm place can cause greases to liquify and separate a bit.

It's not like the Flex Tool has an Oil Pan, or Transmission, blew or leaking at a gasket or seal. and the tool is now going to run dry and burn up like your car.

Just wipe away the oil and continue on. If you start noting that things are sounding or feeling different, then there might be room for concern and a need to operate.

Even the best synth greases, with temp range from -65F to 450F still can separate and get funky with heat and time.
