Not certain if you feel as though I’m attacking you, but it’s not the case.

I’m simply bringing further info to the discussion, particularly that somewhat unfounded claim which I’d hope the experts could chime in on and either confirm or debunk.

I myself haven’t been able to find a conclusive answer but see multiple discussions here on AG and elsewhere about flex and the way they rate their machines. The closest thing I’ve seen was a discussion about strokes per minute vs orbits per minute and what that really meant in terms of rating the tool.

You seem to be a very loyal flex user and that’s cool. I went with a g15 because I’m not sold on forced rotation yet (lack of time behind a flex, none to borrow around here really) and because I was able to get it for significantly less than a 15mk2. I was also told the g15 is more capable than the 15es but maybe equal or slightly less than the 15mk2, so its value for dollar swayed me.

I’m looking to try to draw similar comparison lines here between the actually comparable 75 and 7-12-80 as it represents the first competitive option to the rupes for a mini polisher. I’d think this would be more welcome than the typical flex vs free spinning threads.

While we’re on the subject, anyone with experience with the zentool polishers? Significantly cheaper (their mini is ~$200) and sold exclusively by optimum, but not a lot of coverage out there.

This is how I look at it.

I think the flex has a slightly more powerful motor. They both have a 12mm throw

Take a look at this review of them. But since the rupes mini has been out for a few years the Flex xfe 7-12-80 should have a little ahead technology. As he is mentioned. So are the comparison between Flex 3401 and the rupes mille. As a pro detailer I would look at the Flex mini for the more ergonomic grip. The downside is the so little higher weight. This is just my thoughts of it by only looking at it. I'm not pro detailer and has just bought one of this 3 mini polishers and I do think you know which one I got if you ad the economics between them

The more I learn and the more experience I get, the less I really care about pad stall and the more I think it gets overblown.

Fwiw, I ended up going with the rupes and do not regret it.

I had both. IMO the Flex is a little smoother and quieter. You shouldn't have stalling problems with either one. I ended up selling the Rupes mainly because it was a better known machine and easier to sell. I was very happy with the performance of both, I'm sure you'll be happy with whichever one you purchase.

That stinks though the gg6 is to heavy, has to much vibration and you got that big steel collar on the shaft that can hit the paint when u have a 3" backing plate on it. Plus it spins to fast and the balance is off. I did it to I didn't think it was any good.
