iven seen the reveal early i think..or atleast video with the new machine...video was deleted lol..its not the XCE...I think Flex totally scrapped it(or staying on backburner for longer)..they'll be coming out with a 12mm mini around september though

I think they would have told us if they were scrapping the XCE wouldn't they? I hope they don't as I'm holding out for it.

You mean Flex was listening to us? Where did you hear that?

We will see what comes first, the Flex or the new Rupes Mille. And then see which one is better.

i played with the prototype...it literally just was a 3401 in a xfe7-5 body(perhaps with the new balance system) but I didn't hear anything rattle...
this was before xfe7-15 came out and then later got recalled ..and version 2 made its debut..
if they keep the specs the same, and dont revise the specs similar to the Mille or the PO5000c...then its toast..old news
even if they keep it the sane, they still have to revise the backingplate mounting/sheering issues as they still need cto with version 2 of the 15mm units..

Re: Flex XCE 9-8 150 anyone know when it will actually be released ?
I don't see why Flex would have anything to woory about from the P05000c. Aside from the mode switchover on the PO5000c, in fixed rotation, the Flex 3401 has a longer throw (8mm vs. 5.5mm). While the OPMs is lower on the Flex 3401 than the PO5000c, just how many times have people written in to say that they lack correcting power when using the 3401?
I think the only major improvement that the XCE9-8 (and speaking to the model nomenclature, it doesn't fit naming scheme used on the XFE7-150, where the 150 is the pad diameter in mm.) is airflow/cooling, and the front grip (maybe). the rest of the 3401 is fine; its solid, reliable, and does a great job.

the free spin mode of the PO5000c isnt anything to write home about(think GG3)
the reason why flex has to worry is because both the PO5000C and the Mille will out correct it while being smooth and no vibration compared ot the jack hammer vibration of the 3401/XCE
Pound for Pound in forced mode makita is the clear winner.
The time the Mille comes out I think performance and smoothness/vibration between the PO5000c will be negligible..People will only choose due to brand loyalty...or people that have their mind set thinking clockwise rotation will work better then counter clockwise...that's it.
IF i could only choose a flex, and the XCE came out today with non revised specs...id choose the 3401 over XCE

On paper, the Makita may have a bit more correcting power in forced mode than the Mille, but nothing big by any means. Just a hunch, not positive.
