For me, it mattered because I'm starting my pad collection based on this. Don't have any 6.5 either (except my adam's pads which I'm trying to move away from). I had to pick my pads accordingly. If I went with 5.5 and then it failed, I'd have to stop what I'm doing and wait for a replacement.

That being said, I just went with the 6.5 for now.... Maybe I'll get some 5.5 in the future and give the FLEX 4 3/8 bp instead.

the few reviews it had on AG showed them failing. couple people here said it too. Perhaps you have to install it just right and have to be very accurate with the tightening down part.

I read that the failures have to do with not using the hardware that comes with the plate and instead using the original hex that flex uses for their backing plate. That being said I switch between the plates pretty often always being aware of my hardware and have yet to have a problem. 4-5 years or so.

    +1

I purchased the 4" and I didn't like the fact that it was a 2 piece apparatus. I sold it on ebay and picked up the 4 3/8". I run 5" hybrids easily with that plate.

No issues here also! You will love that 4in backing plate with the hybrid pads. 👍🏼
