    Flex VRG Cord Failure?

Noticed this happening today during a job, got in the way a lot thankfully I had the LHR21 MK2.

The Flex has been through some heavy duty correction this year, anyone experience a similar issue?

Just a guess, but imho, it's how you are storing it. (bending cord in one direction to put it away)

That's possible too, I store it in a official flex bag and there does seem to be a slight clearance issue. The Rupes bag I use has ample clearance I should probably store them both together once I repair it.

If it were me I would replace/repair the electrical cord. If your Flex is out of warranty (which mine is about a couple of years) you can easily replace/repair the cord. There are just a couple of screws holding the handle in place and just remove the handle and you can replace/repair the electrical cord. I was tinkering with my Flex just to see what made it run. It looks fairly easy to replace/repair the cord. If it were me I would look into finding out what is causing that failure. My guess a loose wire that just needs to be re-tightened.

Is that a HD 25 foot cord ? Either way they are installed by Flex and not AUTOGEEK if purchased here.

Regular cord, there's place near my area that's certified by Flex I'll see if they can install a 25ft one.

    Re: Flex VRG Cord Failure?

Got the tool repaired a few weeks ago Original Power Tool Co. Ltd. (Original Power Tool Co. Ltd.) They're one of three Flex repair centers in Ontario (Authorized Warranty Service Centers - Flex North America, Inc.) and I've got to say they did a pretty shitty job.

After the repair, I get fluctuations in power causing RPM drops, occasionally they'll be a few second delay in speed adjustment as well. Do I have any recourse? Should I contact Flex?

The wires look like they've been butchered a bit but I'm not a electrician so....

    Re: Flex VRG Cord Failure?

So for $400 of German engineering you get cord failure in a few years? Shop/pro use or not, I'd be pissed. I guess even the Germans are caught up in this "cheaping out" trend. Disheartened to hear that.

I've had Fein sanders and Bosch power tools I bought in the '90's, and they have been put through hell and back. Never had a cord problem.

    Re: Flex VRG Cord Failure?

any tool that is man-made can have issues at any given time and no brand is exempt. if a polisher is stored where the cord is bent at the end then eventually there can be a problem. it's always a good idea to give some loose leeway when storing it...
