    Vintage SHER Rotary Polisher.

    Hello my friends.

I picked up another vintage Rotary polisher off a local auction website the other day & it arrived in the mail today.

This thing is seriously heavy!!! Certainly no need for any downward pressure with this, in fact I would be a bit hesitant using this on a modern car with their increasingly “soft” body panels.

    Here’s what I found out -

It’s a SHER Polisher. SHER was an Australian Power Tool Company founded by an Austrian immigrant Wilhelm Peter Schlesinger & Alexander Faill. They started off in 1940 as Red Point Tool Co & in 1957 changed its name to Sher Power Tools Pty Ltd until in 1962 when Skil Corporation took over.

So because it’s labeled as a SHER I’m guessing it’s between 1957 & 1962 in age. Researched a bit on line but came up empty in regards to a polisher of any type.

Anyway, here are the pictures, enjoy.

Thank you all for taking a look ... oh yeah, yes it does indeed run.

    Very cool Aaryn.

Looks heavy. That would be a good forearm workout for anyone buffing out vertical panels, like on a large van or boat.

The pad looks like regulation modern-day body shop and dealership pad, dirt and all.

    Thanks Mike.

I shall weigh this big bopper sometime & see, it’s certainly the heaviest I’ve held & yeah, this would be some workout.

Hahaha, funny you say that, I thought the same thing ... actually this would be a pretty new looking pad in some shops.

    Cheers A-train.

Exactly. Must’ve been some BIG burly man, or woman swinging this thing around that’s for sure.

    Thanks Tony.

No doubt buddy, NZ Wool all the way. I would like to buff out a little something with it when I feel a bit better . . . Self employed & sick, the show must go on huh . . .
