    1950’s Black & Decker Vitrifier!

    Hey team.

So the other day I picked up this sweet 1950’s 7” Black & Decker Vitrifier off a local auction website down here in lil’ ol’ New Zealand.

The tool is a bit on the heavy side for sure but very well balanced in hand & yes, it still runs perfectly. It’s beautifully made & it oozes quality, must’ve been quite the tool in its day.

Although I guess - things were made a bit different back then too. Made stronger, built to last kinda thing. Still, I’d rather be swinging around a Flex PE-14 than this Black & Decker.

    Right, onto some pictures.

I had hoped that this advert may have been on paper & arrived with the tool but it didn’t. I did however print it out & save a digital picture of it to. A cool piece on its own.

    The tool itself.

There ya have it. A real sweet machine indeed. I would actually like to buff out a car with it one day just ‘coz’ because it runs so nice & feels good in hand. Actually to note - it feels ‘short’ a lot shorter than modern machines, I kinda dig that too.

Thank you all for checking in & having a look.

    Aaryn NZ.

I love seeing the old school machines. Looks like a '50's era wool pad too! What's the seperate t-handle thingie for?

Wow, now that is a real piece of machinery. That was way before Stanley diluted the brand and brought down the quality of everything under their umbrella. I wonder if you could retrofit a modern buffing pad or backing plate on that spindle. We would love to see it in action.

Ive got one from 1964 , and it still works great. Back in the mid-60s I use to do detailing on the side. Later my uncles hobby was restoring old VW s, and I would use the buffer to buf out new lacquer paint.
