    Detailing a 26 Hackercraft. Wood + heat + cheap cover = ouch.

Hi everyone, first time post on the forum with something a little different. I'm no stranger to cleaning up paintwork and gelcoat but by no means consider myself a pro.

I have a mahogany boat which is varnished that I took on as a detailing project and was looking for some insight on helping to remove scratches, oxidation, and create that sought after warm wood look.

I started testing out the bow by compounding, polishing, and waxing (used 105 205 and some meg flagship wax) but found results after a few days to be hazed and scratch removal minimal. At this point it appears the pores are filled up with polish and I'm contemplating doing a wash with Dawn and maybe clay to clear the area before proceeding to attempt a wax.

What are your thoughts? Any tips or product suggestions?

I am curious to see how this turns out. I love Hacker Crafts! They are absolutely stunning boats. I got to see quite a few of them when I was enjoying Lake George, NY.

That looks like some sanding will be needed.
