    Compounding by hand

Looking for some tips to improve applying compound by hand(mostly gel). Just areas where the buffer won't fit, so I can get the most even finish. Should I use a folded up MF or terry towel, MF applicator, compound foam applicator, pressure, number of passes, how often to clean/change applicator ect... any info or tips would be great! Thanks in advance.

If you have a machine, use the 3" cutting/polishing pads you have by hand.

LC makes CCS "hand applicators" that look like they would be good for compounding small areas by hand. I was thinking of trying them on my motorcycle. Haven't heard if they're any good or not.

They make little 3" pads that can be attached to the end of any drill. They are great for getting to tight places, horns, handrails, etc.

I puchased some of the new Hydrotech hand pads. I haven't had a chance to use them yet but the design and quality seems impressive.

Similar to the Griot's... look in the AG store for the Polishin' Pal: Results for polishin pal - Search

Compared to using a pad only, these allow much more uniform pressure across the face of the pad
