How to Detail / Repair This? (by a novice)

Check the pics. I do not want to have to replace the decal. Can anyone make any suggestions on how this novice can patch up these two spots?

To anyone that has some repair advice----------

    1. I am not looking for "perfection."
    2. The "wrinkled" vinyl next to the torn spots is exaggerated by the close up pic. I am not trying to repair the wrinkles, but will if I can find an easy somewhat effective way.

Heck, I was think about repairing gelcoat on the one spot neeeding it, and then finding some vinyl decal material the same or as close to the color as possible, and then cutting and applying it. Any better ideas?

Not sure what to tell you?

Maybe if you can get some color matching vinyl tape you could do a patch job?

Here's two of your pictures, I went to your online album, copied the URL address and then used the IMG tags to "insert".

    Mike,

Thanks for the welcome and the tip on inserting pics. I've been in Stuart 3 or 4 times in last few years....on A1A. Matter of fact I bought this 1997 boat in Stuart.

I think I'm going to patch the gel coat, and find some matching vinyl. MUCH easier than trying to find, pay for, and apply a 20 +yr old decal.

This boat has not even been washed in ten years, It was FULL of fish guts etc. Fishing has been so bad lately I decided to take the summer off and little by little bring this boat back to life. It's a real project!

Can I not create a signature simply because I am new?

    Welcome to AGO.

If you can find a color match,(as Mike said) replacing those stripes is a breeze. You already have the sun line to go by.
It is no coincidence that man's best friend cannot talk.
