    Re: Wheel/tire detailing roller stand....recommendations?

As I'm sure people have noticed by now, I don't do things by halves.

When I bought a new set of wheels for the Mustang earlier this year, I wanted the ceramic coating process to be as smooth as possible.

I had a wheel stand on my radar long before that though, however the choice of these stands is a bit limited in Australia. One company here was selling a version from Polka Premium, but that had been sold out for months. The other option was a Maxshine version which had just hit the market here, it arrived a few weeks prior to my wheels turning up.

Did I need one of these, probably not. Did it make the process easy, hell yes!!

I have used this so far to prep the tires and ceramic coat those wheels, as well as wash, decon and polish my old set. The bed of my truck with its rubber liner made for an excellent work station.

As I said, I didn't really need one to do what I had in mind. But as a detailing nut, it just made sense having one on hand.

2 Year Thread Brump. Any Buyers Remorse on these things.

I'm about to pull the trigger on one. New wheels en-route and I'm tired or hunching, moving, adjusting, flipping, adjusting - rinse and repeat for 4 wheels.

I got the Maxshine one after seeing it in one of Guz's videos, no regrets. Got it on Amazon. If I recall it was a little bit of a pain to put together.

    Re: Wheel/tire detailing roller stand....recommendations?

I just use two large rubber wheel chocks I picked up for cheap at Harbor Freight. Standing up the wheel and chocking it on each side essentially does the same thing as the fancy stands.

The only down side is the wheel won't freely rotate like it does on the stand. For me that isn't and issue because I'll stand them up while cleaning off the car and then lay them flat when I'm applying the coating. For me, I feel I have a better view and access to areas of the wheel face when it's flat vs standing up.

Agree, for inspection, applying coating, etc. But for cleaning it's hard to beat the stand to be able to spin the wheel while you're scrubbing a tire, etc.

Never really considered this until new wheels had a shipping tracking attached...
Thought about it yesterday, slept on it....ordered it this morning.

    It's literally -priceless-.
The ability to just rotate a standing wheel 360 pays for itself in a single 4 wheel session

Not going to argue with that! While you still need to lift the wheel onto the stand, it does take away some of the manhandling required with off-car wheel cleaning, polishing or coating.

    Re: Wheel/tire detailing roller stand....recommendations?

My Poka came in. The box is rectangular so maybe there is some assembly or not....
In retrospect, I wish I realized I wanted to buy this a smidge earlier as I would have had it my possession while I was at the Powder Coat Shop.

I literally was at my powder coater the other week and would have Poka redone in a different colorway.
This will probably have to next until I have something that warrants a trip to the Powder Coat shop.

DFB, With that itty bitty plastic table, is it secure enough to not wanna fall flat with a 22/23 inch wheel assembly ?
Or is there makeshift screws on frame to table I'm not seeing.
Obviously have to experience it 1st person, but I would be thinking a wheel assembly on a table setup like that....the weight of the wheel would still rock the roller stand ?
