New Bauer (HF) 56367 long throw polisher - non-standard backing plate

I wanted to get a DA polisher to replace my old failing rotary. Couldn’t justify spending big bucks and wanted to take a chance on this because Bauer seems to be stepping up a bit. This polisher looks similar to a much higher priced CG 22D. I watched a tear down of it on YouTube and although it was very thorough, there was no mention of the backing plate threads being non-standard. For the old Bauer polisher people recommended using the LC backing plate which I purchased. The polisher arrived yesterday and I noticed the original backing plate has a hole in the center with a low-head cap screw whereas the LC of course has the built in male threads. When I attempted to screw it on I noticed the thread pitch is different. Size seems similar. Taking a closer look at the CG 22D, looks to be the same backing plate design. Now I’m thinking it might actually be the same design for a much cheaper price? Anyway, what should I do now?
    1) just use the stock backing plate
    2) get a thread adapter (this will probably not be a good idea as it will cause the plate to stick out too far and ruin bearings)
    3) use the CG22 backing plate
    4) find some other backing plate with a hole in it
    5) something else I haven’t thought of

    thanks!

Perhaps try the Bauer Forum. This is the AutoGeek forum and they do not sell Bauer products. If you purchase from AutoGeek, their customer service is always top notch and helpful with issues like this.

i’d be glad to purchase a backing plate from AutoGeek If you can suggest one. I did just purchase hundreds of dollars of other supplies from them.

I'm not sure if we'll have something that works on this tool.

    Can you share a picture?

Need to see the front and back side.

The G21 Boss backing plate looks like a winner, very similar. Thanks for this!

The problem with this is after spending a $100+? on the bauer then $25 on a backing plate...your about 20 bucks away from a gg9 with a crazy warranty

The BP from a 22D does look like it could fit but could just be similar. Here is a pocture of a Rupes (top) and a 22D (bottom).

I personally replaced the 6" included backing plate with the "Maxshine Dia: 125mm/5 inch DA Backing Pad- Ideal for All Brands of Dual Action Polisher"
