Bug with one of my DA polishers

So I have this Meguiar's DA polisher that I purchased about 5 years agol I did not use it much, early on I replaced it with a Rupes Bigfoot so it kinda sat in my tool bag mostly unused for about 3 or 4 years.

After watching a few videos I decided to re-purpose it for interior cleaning and attached a 3 inch upholstry brush to it and I now use it to clean seats, carpets and fabric roofs.

This week it started doing something very strange. It would stop working completelly then start back up on it's own after a few seconds. I am wondering what could be wrong with it. I know tools like that use a brush to power the motor, could this be what is causing it? I have never replaced a brush on any electric tool but I know they have a limited life. If not, any idea what the problem can be?

I believe that could be your trouble. In the past there have been posts on power cords.

Agree - sounds more like an intermittent connection somewhere. I would guess power cord, switch, or internal wiring, based on my personal experience with other power tools.

Ok, thanks guys, I will have to open up the machine and see if I can find the problem. Electric cord would be the easiest to fix I guess.

Makes sense actually...if the machine was sitting for a long time and the cord wound up.
