It looks like the main difference is the Elcometer does not measure non-metal substrates while the Defelsko unit does offer this capability. IMHO the only reason to drop more than $2k on a PTG is if it is capable of measuring the paint thickness of any substrate. You can get basic PTGs that measure film build on ferrous and non-ferrous metals for under $200.
What do you mean the 415 only does metal? Isnt the 6000 and 415 both fnf gauges?

I looks like the 6000 and the 415 are both pretty similar as far as functionality.
I was mistaken... it is the Defelsko 200B ADV that I use. It measures up to 3 individual layers of paint and can be used on plastic, carbon fiber, and other non-metal substrates (as well as F/NF metals).
