Nope. It was snug, but not red lock tight or cross threaded tight.

Yeah I was able to get the backing plate off the duetto. Used a ratchet with a socket that has the right size hex key size.

If I'm washerless then it's speeds 4/5 mostly. I love the polisher both ways. Another benefit of the washer is not worrying about lubricating the housing which really isn't a big deal either .
Try it without the washer first. All you need is speed 4. I've yet to go higher than that with or without the washer.

The bolt on my first generation Rupes 21 was extremely tight. I had to use a set of pliers to remove the BP bolt. Here's the thread I created then:
How To Remove Rupes Polisher's Factory Backing Plate Bolt

Thankfully my Rupes 15/21Mk2 wasn't as tight.

I personally love using the washer mod on my Rupes polishers.

I just got the mark 2 a month ago, ran it without washer mod, a little too sensitive on edges, I removed backing plate and put my washer mod in place, in my opinion it's 1000 times smoother and really shows the power. Also can hit my edges without the plate stopping completely. The backing plate is very tight, no loctite tho. Make sure u are turning the right direction. Good luck!

Mine took considerable effort to remove. Maybe you need to hit the gym! JK

I held the machine between my legs sitting down with the backing plate facing out. Then I turned the wrench towards me as hard as I could, came right off.

Relax dude. I'm not questioning your ability on knowing how to use the tool.
