    Is this a new version?

I've always been kind of interested in this polisher.

Seems like a replacement for the 6040, but the 6040 was always a true sander that was adapted, this seems like a true car polisher. I'd see them keeping the 6040 for the woodworkers and now offering this to the car guys.

Looks like the demo guy was really fighting the machine at 1:53.

From a design and engineering standpoint, it looks great!

I'd love to try one out.

Leave it to the Japanese to come up with a Flex/Rupes combo machine. We shall dub him Flupes.

Very interesting. The jap also just launch a gear action DA recently. 2.8kg is a little heavy personally for me and I actually wish they reduce the orbit size though for more precision buffing.

smaller stroke compared to the 3401,but rotates faster
    4800opm vs 7800opm?
    480rpm vs 780rpm

looks longer too..perhaps better at handling "walk"

Similar in concept to the Bosch 1250 DEVS. Same idea, one mode is random orbital (free rotation_, other mode is dual action (forced rotation). Bosch looks chunkier/shorter in body length than the Makita, might be shorter than the Flex 3401.
