Those wheels appear to be clear coated. It looks like a highly caustic or highly acidic chemical has leached behind the clear coat in some places and etched the metal finish underneath. Unfortunately there is no way to undo this damage other than having the wheel faces refinished.

On those wheels when using acidic cleaner you have to sit there and make sure u rinse lugs .you would be surprised how much chemical they hold .I see it all the time on some cars the clear is burnt or etched from acid getting trapped in lug hole ,people drive off with there shiny car ,and 2400 dollar damage is occurring from some 8.00 an hr employee who wasn't properly trained .

Or use a paint stripper to remove every trace of clear and then polish the raw aluminum.

And then seal them. You would be surprised how good nicely polished aluminum can look.

I think it looks classier than chrome. The only drawback would be the future maintenance.

Isn't the term for this 'white worming'

And it never fails that wheels that truly need to be hit with something powerful like Megs WB always have way too many chips and flaked clear to actually use the WB.

It was $425 for all four wheels for my car.
