    Can't remove water spots

This summer I took the car out to a breakfast on the farm event. I parked the car in a hayfield that was just cut. It got quite dusty and then later it sprinkled on the car. It left all sorts of water spots on the car. I don't know if they had sprayed the hayfiled with some sort of fertilizer and it mixed with the rain.
I washed, clayed, and used ultimate compound by hand and can't get rid of them. I don't have a DA. Looking for someone in the Wausau area that can help me out. Thanks

Did you rub with a little "umph" (strength) and the ultimate compound? Back and forth/up and down for a minute or two?

I have not tried the Chemical Guys product, but have used vinegar with know success. I know there are different types of water spots. These seen to be sitting on the paint. I dont know if they are etched into the paint, but I cant feel them with my fingernail. Maybe its coincidence but I didnt notice them until after all the dust from the hayfield. A bodyshop guy says it could be from the auto carwash. I have only used them twice during the winter and did not notice the spots until June.

Vinegar won't do it man. I've used the CG product before on a Jet Ski with good results. You need a strong acid to do it.

    Re: Can't remove water spots

    Read through this,

Using Vinegar to remove water spots

Try to determine if the spots are,

Minerals on the surface - you should be able to feel this.

Imprint rings etched in a circular manner depicting the outline of the water drops.

Crater Etchings - an actual roundish area of paint that has been eaten away

See this article for pictures of the above...

3 - Types of Water Spots - Type I, Type II and Type III

If it's minerals or contaminants that are bonded "onto" the surface then one of the products I referenced in the first link should take care of it.

If you have imprint rings or crater etching then compounding is the remedy.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I will try the Chemical Guys spot remover and if that doesnt work will have to try and polish them out.
