cleaning chrome plated plastic on escalade

2007 escalade has a lot of fake chrome. oxidation and spots are on the chrome. What is the best way to clean and polish this?

Some plastichrome isn't too stout. I'd try something fairly gentle first like Nevr Dull. Unless your trim is severely damaged I'd think that oughta shine it up.

    Nevr-Dull Wadding Polish

Also available OTC at most auto parts stores, Wally World, etc.

Then protect it with the same type of wax or sealant you'd use on the rest of the vehicle.

Nevr Dull sounds like the way to go. I've never used it myself but a bit of research around here and I think ill get myself some.

A while back, here's what Dubbin was able to achieve with it:

Though, another user in that thread stated that it had bad effects on his plastic chrome grill, the center caps Dubbin worked on were plastic too and had great results so I'd just test it in a small area first.

Because Dubbin deserves his credit, here's his original thread.

I used Nevr Dull on an Infiniti plastic chrome grill and it scratched it. Same goes for some chrome wheels. However, worked great on chrome exhaust tips. Go figure.

Interesting, I've been using Nevr Dull for 20+ years and never saw it scratch. Nothing abrasive about it... except sometimes a fresh tin has little nubbin's in the cotton near top and bottom. I usually yank off a hunk towards the fluffy middle if I'm working on anything delicate.

I have some after market items. first step is to maintain it from the get go . some of the cheaper made stuff will just get bad from winter/salt if u live in those states. before finding ag I have always used mothers chrome polish , turtle wax chrome polish . shines it up nice , some protection . now I use optimum metal polish, collinite metal wax . if just too bad will just have to replace it which I have done living in Wisconsin = bad winters and dreaded road salt . maintain it and keep it protected .

For the platic chrome you may want to try a non abrasive cleaner polish first. IMO NeverDull is probably not the best thing to try first on plastichrome
