    First time detailing

    Hi,

I am planning to get my hands wet with my first polishing and waxing attempt on my toyota highlander light blue color suv.

    My action plan is :

    1. wash
    2. clay
    3. Remove swirls with pc7424xp
    4. Apply Glaze
    5. Apply wax

    Did I miss any steps?

This will be the first time using pc7424xp, so i would like to know what are the pads I would need and how many of them.

Any recommendation on the products? I am planning on using Wolfgang brand due to reviews, but i would like to know if there are anything better.

Can I apply the wax immediately after the glaze or is there a waiting period?

    Should I remove roof racks?

How can i remove scratches behind the door handles?

Thanks in advance and I appreciate all the help

Hey, what I like to use for products is M205 which I find is a great polish u can use on a white lake country pad , underneath the handles you can carefully move the polisher inside top and bottom

As far as I know, I never wait after I remove the glaze I go straight to wax

Use the two bucket method and what's your preferred pre wash snow foam or citrus pre wash to remove the larger dirt particles you can use prewash as it cuts through grease and snow foam for top Down. So cpw cuts through grease and sf pulls it off

    Re: First time detailing

I use a two bucket wash method with a foam cannon and pressure washer (if you have one). The pressure washer I have it attached to a water softer system. If you don't hose will be good enough but ensure to work on the car in a shaded area if possible. So far you have it all down as for the pads I use the Hex logic pads (Orange if the swirls are heavy, Yellow for medium, White for polishing, Green for glazing, Black for waxes, Red for sealants). The size I prefer using are 5.5" I have seen some fellow members complaining or asking about using bigger pads. If I were you I would draw some line on the backing plate to see the spinning direction of the plate. This is totally optional but you can also add a layer of sealant or spray sealant.

As far for the roof racks I wouldn't mess with them, I detail my brothers Mustang and I do not remove the spoiler in the back even thou I thought about removing it to cover the whole back.

Skip the glaze and wax.And follow what Gibson said.you may just get away with 205 with a microfiber pad slow and steady passes.

Flip the pad colors... Orange goes with 105, not 205 generally speaking.
