Some older Corvette guy in Canadian Tire (Kind of like Canadian Autozone I suppose) told me as I was picking up a bottle of Mothers Spray Wax that if I wanted to save some money and time, just buy some towels and keep a bottle of water with me and make sure that before I do that though, I put on at least 5 coats of Turtle Wax Hard Shell and to put on one coat every weekend so the wax will keep the car clean. I told the guy to mind his own business or stop giving bad advice. Might have been rude but I don't walk around parking lots telling people with swirled out cars what they should and shouldn't do, so leave me to me.

Hey, hey, I'm from Hawaii and been building up my carnauba wax in order to not ever having to wax my car again.

Re: Post Your Most Uneducated Comments Ever Received In Detailing History

One of my regular customers called me last week & asked if "that stuff you put on my car protects it from hail?" He said he'd driven through a hail storm & didn't get any dents from it. I kinda chuckled to myself & just told him that, while I'd like to take credit for it, the sealants I use don't offer that kind of protection.

I get: "Why bother? It just gets dirty again in a week."

I say to them: "Then why wash your dishes? They're just going to get dirty again next time you eat."

Or: "Why vacuum your living room? Floor is just gonna be dirty again in a few days."

    That usually ends the conversation.

Large scrape on corner of front bumper. "Ya I'm gonna try clay barring that"

"Why wash your car when its gonna rain on the weekend?"

    "It's just a car"
