Yep.
Gloves, earplugs, and the mask.

This has been a great read thanks for the suggestions on ppg. I like the idea about 3m with the check valve since it is always hot 95% of the time where I live.

Re: Do you use face mask doing detailing?
Nope no face mask for me, polishing is hard enough to stay focused after 8 hour sessions.
I am not going to let rubber bands squeeze in the back of my head for a period of 15 hours + let Alone them hitting your ears and making them soar.
Whoever says its comfortable is a flat out liar.
I'm very sensitive to migraines and headaches , if I drink a specific beer I get a instant migraine if I smell a very strong chemical I get a headache.
And those masks would just give me more of a headache.
Everyone has there preference and I do agree its safe but I couldn't endure it.
I'm trying to focus and beat swirls hard to do that with a rubber band squeezing circulation out of my head.
When I undercoat cars for 2 hours my head hurts from those masks let alone 20 hours of polishing no thanks

Gloves, no mask even though at times while using the Tornador I should. Hey somethings going to kill you it might as well be detailing.

9mm nitrile gloves and a mask when I'm using the Tornador.

I wear nitrile gloves as much as possible. Respirator when compounding, applying coating, & using caustic chemicals.

You went from doing 8 hours, to 15+ hours,
to 20 hours sessions: don't you ever get to
rest your weary head?

•I'm another one of those people that find that
face masks, and other respiratory-contaminates
abatement devices, are not only comfortable to
wear, but...
-they also provide comfort; as in: having the
peace-of-mind that comes with knowing my health
is being more protected, in both the short and long
terms, than not wearing the proper PPE.
•I also don't adjust the "rubber bands" so tightly
that they'd ever "squeeze in the back of my head"...

Re: Do you use face mask doing detailing?
question for people who wear masks, how often do you change the filters and cartridges? I've never worn one but after this thread I'm all ready to go pick one up today. I Googled and it looks like if you keep it in the zip lock it comes in they last longer. I'm wondering if with auto detailing I can get away with longer than people who paint or deal with super harsh chemicals.

Re: Do you use face mask doing detailing?
I bought a respirator mask online not too long ago but it was complete junk... I've been meaning to buy some disposable dust masks, mainly for when I'm cleaning wheels & tires. Are the 3M 8000 particle respirator N95 gas/dust masks good for the task? I'd appreciate the info.
