    Hyundai Paint

My wife is considering a new 2016 Hyundai Tucson and while looking at their website, I found this gem:
"we use an elastic chemical compound called Scratch Recovery Clear to help scratches heal"

    https://www.hyundaiusa.com/new-thinking/quality.aspx

That sounds a lot like the paint that Nissan was using a few years ago that was giving everybody fits.

Does anyone have any experience with Hyundai paint on newer vehicles?

found this while browsing some searches:
"Isn’t it just a soft and slippery coating layer? Actually, it is not only that. Enough strength cannot be kept only by simply softening it. And the balance collapses when we try to raise strength forcibly and the self-healing effect will be lost."

    2013 Black Genesis Coupe

    2015 White Sonata

Excellent paint jobs on both cars.

Not sure about that elastomeric stuff though.

Would you say it is generally on the softer or harder side of things?
I'm used to GM paint, which seems to be relatively hard, or Mazda paint, which seems soft and thin.

    Re: Hyundai Paint

I've had no problems keeping the paint looking good. I'm really not one to characterize paint as hard or soft. In my detailing experiences I've not had any issues with the systems approach I've used over the years. Be it Menzerna, HD, Wolfgang, Blackfire Polishes. I generally stay with one manufacturers system when doing a paint correction or polishing job.

For example, your note on GM paint. I did a Chevy 2500 pick up with FG400 and I thought it was super easy to correct and it was trashed! Never been detailed in 7 years.

Rupes 15 and orange pads finished own to near perfect and topped it with a sealant.

    Talk about oxidation!!

    One step FG400

And it was totally swirl free:

Had a 2014 black Coupe and now have a 2014 white Coupe.
Both great colors and easy to work with.
