    Quietest DA polisher?

I am a new amateur detailer. I would like to invest in a DA polisher, but I need to find something that is very quiet. A friend of mine showed me his porter cable DA polisher, but it's very loud. I'm asking this because I live in an apartment, my car is under a car port, and I don't want to disrupt the neighbors while working on my car.

Any suggestions? I'm getting tired of working my car by hand.

just about any traditional PC style DA (or polisher for that matter) is going to be a little (or a lot) noisy. as far as a recommendation goes... the GG6 and the G15/21 would be a great choice!

I have both G15 and PC7424xp, and as Visitor states, there really isn't going to be anything that is quieter. I can state that the G15 is loud. My ears buzz after using it, and I'm now using ear protection with it.

There are probably many suggestions others will make, and or work arounds, but the straight answer is; Rupes, Flex, GG, PC, will all be about the same.

The Rupes Bigfoot machines do seem quieter to me, but to be honest I can't tell if it is an overall reduction in volume, or if they just have a different pitch that doesn't seem as noisy to me. In any case, they seem the quietest.

I have never used the Rupes but I do believe the Flex 3401 seems less intrusive than the PC or Griots. Also, depending on the distance from carport to other human living areas, after 20 feet the sound from these devices fade into the background for those that are focused on other activities.

I have the Flex 3401 and the PC7424XP and the Flex is louder than the PC. But I do agree that the sound does fade after a few yards. I am always asking my next door neighbor if my machines (Flex or PC) is too loud and she lets me know that there is very little noise. My garage is next to hers.

IMO, all will make some noise, however, not really intrusive.

    Re: Quietest DA polisher?

PC and Griot are the loudest and have enough vibration to make your fingers tingle. The Rupes are quieter and much smoother, but if noise is major a concern, you may want to look into a rotary. No electric DA is quieter or smoother than a rotary.
