    clarifying gauge cluster plastic

I cannot stand dusty interior bits and being that i live in a desert... well that can't be helped. after only 2 months of wiping dust away with a microfiber cloth the gauge cluster has become pretty marred up. I've tried plastx which made it worse. I've tried plexus which made it much better and is bearable now but still many many light scratches are in the cluster and when the light hits it just right i cannot see the gauges.

what products are there if any to clean and remove marring from gauge clusters?

    thanks,
    Steve

You will need to remove it to polish it correctly or better yet, get some new lenses. Dry wiping will cause the soft plastic to scratch.

M205 works quite well on most clusters that I've come across. They do scratch quite easily though, so be careful with them!

Here is a cluster from a Audi S3

    DAS6 Pro
    Menzerna Top Inspection to clean
    Menzerna SF4000
4" Lake Country Grey CCS Pad

    Before

    After

I did another one (no pics) this past Thursday evening out of a Golf 7 Gti using the same method and had good success with it

    Hope this helps

Absolutely beautiful results. The lens looks like brand new. Not a mark on it! At what speed were you running the DA? A long time ago I was trying to polish out some terrible marring on a junk yard instrument cluster and I used too high a speed and warped the lens due to the heat generated.

    Re: clarifying gauge cluster plastic

    Thank you

Machine was set at speed 4. I was also afraid of heat related issues so did 2 or 3 passes, stopped for a little while (didn't wipe off any polish), did another 2 or 3, stopped for a little while then did another 2 or 3. I think if you had to try work your normal sort of 6 to 8 passes in one shot, there is more of a chance of heat related issues.

I just took it really slow and luckily all turned out ok.
