What color car to get: easiest to maintain

I'll be getting a new car in the next year or two and want your opinions as to whether white (or any other color) is a good color to get as it would show less swirls and thus would require less polishing. I've been through many cars and colors so I'm not too fixated on any one color so the more easy the upkeep, the better.

I'll probably get a new Toyota Land Cruiser. Colors which are available and could work well would be Blizzard White, Classic Silver Metallic or Magnetic Gray Metallic.

Is the white a metallic and if so, would it be single stage?

Currently, all of my cars are dark (black or dark blue metallic) which shows swirls and scratches easily.

I'd say silver would be easier than white; white shows more dirt and stains.

Bright silver. Hides swirls, scratches, & dirt easily.

However; if you start off the correct way taking care of your car, then the color chosen should be one that you love.

Re: What color car to get: easiest to maintain

Thanks all. I would take care of it from day 1. I'm even thinking of asking the dealer to not remove the protective white wrap if I have to order one. Otherwise, if it's already on the lot, I won't have a choice.

Anyone know if the dealer would be willing to do this?

I've got a Flex 3401, PC and numerous pads as well as WG 3.0 Uber Compound, Swirl Removal and Glaze which I used to get great results on my wifes RR which she had only taken to the car wash. I told her after I completed her truck that I should be the only one to wash her truck which she reluctantly agreed to.

Re: What color car to get: easiest to maintain

I just went thru this myself.

Originally wanted white. We got one of each car we had narrowed it down to, each for a day.

First day was a Starfire Pearl Lexus ES350. Gorgeous color, beautiful in the sun.

Second day was a Bellanova White Pearl Acura TLX. Looked nice and white when I left the dealer. Drove through a rain storm, by the time I got home it had dirt colored racing stripes. White was out!

Chose the ES350, the only options for light colors other than white and "old guy gold" (i.e. tan) were Silver Lining Metallic (your standard silver metalflake) or Atomic Silver (a very interesting color that looks silver, light gunmetal, etc)

We chose Atomic Silver because its light but still looks like "something". The plain silver looked...plain.

My vote would be some form of silver.

As far as the dealer not touching the vehicle....good luck. I told mine about 20 times, texts, emails, on the phone. They washed and waxed it during PDI anyway. Luckily they didnt eff it up, my detailer didnt do anymore than a light polish before OptiCoating it.

I had posted on a different forum about my ordeal, and a few people said they would outright refuse the car if it didnt still have the white plastic on it. To make absolutely sure: put it on the sales order. "Right to refuse delivery if ....". Thats a good way to make sure the dealer listens to your wishes, they wouldnt risk actually losing a sale because of it.

Re: What color car to get: easiest to maintain

I currently have three vehicles in the garage in the order of easiest to hardest to keep clean.

    1. Silver
    2. Red
    3. Black ( a full time job)

    Go with the Silver.
