Car back from the body shop

My yellow car that got a new hood and front bumper repaint is back from the shop. The owner said he usually recommends not waxing for 60 days after a paint. Thing is, with the salt, rain, and yard work crud floating around in my neighborhood, the car will get very dirty. Plus, my sister is buying the car in about 2 weeks and it will live in Washington, D.C. I want to protect the nice, new paint from the elements and give her some protection.

Is there anything I can do before it leaves with her?

So all in all, some say do as you like, as long as you dont use super strong stuff.

But i would probably do as Killr say, a coat of Pinnacle soveran wax..

the paint has to gas out for 30-60 days. the gasing out phase is what helps the finish shine. the other thing to remember is the color is your finish and the clearcoat is actually the protection for your finish. with the technology of todays clearcoats its almost not neccesary to wax them.

this is info i got from the painter i work with. just thought i would pass it on and see if anyone else had heard the same or similar.

If I'm not mistaken, you can protect it with a breathable product like a wax.

Meguiar's #80 has a body shop safe polymer, that will add very light protection.

EDIT: I almost forgot to say..Use OCW. I wish Optimum would hurry and release the new one, but it is safe to use on a car that has just been painted if i recall correctly.
