I started calling it j-eweling the surface after watching my wife have her diamond rings cleaned. The ###eler uses a ###elers rouge on the platnium surfaces and then goes to to a final geming polish.

On a cars finish, I was finding that with most abrasive polishes and using cutting pads (orange , yellow) that I need to follow up with a second pad and light polish to gem or j-ewel the surface.

So J-eweling became a term we use on the forum in use for moving from an abrasive polish to a finish polish and geming the surface.

I think I would pick a new term. ###eling stainless or aluminum is a term that is used when machining a certain finish on the product. Examples would be in the cylinder jugs of a harley that have this process are called ###elled. Swirled patterns in flat metals done with a 3M pad are also called ###eled. Thes term seems a little too close to apply it to a polish wax process.

    Obviously just my 2 cents.

Sorry i disagree. i think the word is really a thought process for the final prep process before the ultimate and final application of wax, sealer or glaze.......

J-eweling the surface before wax application made me at first think that the surface had to be pristine before any topper.......it made me think that there is a final step before the the ultimate gloss factor, that is what were all looking for. THE ULIMATE final preparation. were not really j-ewelling anything...... its the thought of perfection that were after, [J-EWELING your finish] to me is the ultimate prep.............

Obviously you can call it what ever you desire. I guess what I was trying to say is that the term goes back a long way when referring to different metal processes, not only in the automotive world, but the bike world, gun world etc. It won't be the first thing that comes to many car guys/gals minds.
