Interior swirling /RIDS - maple interior trim / black plastic
I picked up a new 2014 Infiniti Q50S with maple interior trim and some black gloss plastic. Lots of little thin RIDS in both. It had been on a few test drives and they did a horrible job of PDI - swirls and rids all over the paint, that I know what to do for.
I presume the maple is covered/coated with something, dealer can't tell me what it is though.
Can I get a suggestion on a process for this ? I know a polisher won't be the right avenue LOL

I would start with some polish on an applicator and do it by hand, if that doesn't work then try a compound by hand. As far as I know the majority of trim pieces in cars are clearcoated so it can be treated like exterior paint, aside from buffing. I'm not 100% on that though, but doing it by hand is where I personally would start. Someone else will chime on who will know exactly what to do
Cheers

I know I'll need to mask off those other pieces so I don't end up with polish in the cracks. I think maybe a MF applicator would be a good choice?

My Touareg has similar trim inside. I ended up using automotive polish (CarPro a Reflect) on a microfiber to get the interior swirls out. I put a sealant on the trim after. Time will tell if it holds up.

Would a circular motion or straight line be recommended?

Given the limited space do what ever you can reasonably do. I think I did mostly straight since most of my trim in long and only a few inches (3-4") wide.

This article is chock full of information for cleaning-up RIDS/swirls/etc., from a vehicle's interior trim. Hopefully
you'll find some that will be of benefit to your situation.
