If you’re a production shop, and the big harmless wax spreader works for you, then use it. Ain’t no shame in your game. I say go for it.

Most of the time it works great. Now I will stir the pot. Waxing new paint. We do it. Because it has been done for years and years. We bake our base paint, and our clear coats. We do not wash the new paint. But we do use the orbital to apply the wax.

I have a 6" Coleman corded waxer that I use all the time. I find I use less product and get much better coverage. I've been thinking of picking up a Ryobi cordless waxer.

I looked into a cordless, but with a team of 8 people, I would need multiple batteries for the number of waxes we complete in a day

You're in luck. Ryobi sells those too! Ryobi one is a nice tool system, I have several home tools that use the one battery system. Just got the impact gun for tire changes.

Griots 3” mini polisher and red ThinPro waxing pads work quite well. Thin, even coverage and quicker than by hand. No worries about the machine “getting away from you.”
Works for Mike Phillips, works for me.
I don’t mind doing it by hand either for the “therapy” .
