    Re: Suede stain removal

What is the make and model of the car?

Is it Suede or Ultrasuede? One is leather and the other is synthetic. They require different products and techniques

From the pic it looks like leather. I've used folex on suede with no problem ever or Sonax makes a good suede cleaner.

    Re: Suede stain removal

I cleaned a truck yesterday that had suede seats.
    They were nasty.
I sprayed them with Meguiar's APC, cut, they came out nice.

    Wish I had taken pictures.

The Taurus does not have "suede" seats and neither did the truck

Sonax makes an Alcantara cleaner...that is not "suede" either. It is a synthetic

    Re: Suede stain removal

I actually just used small microfiber towel, warm water and rubbed it very very light and it did the trick. Ill post pics in a bit.

"With handsome stitching, contrasting faux-suede inserts and brazen SHO emblems embroidered across the seatback, the pieces are nicely finished, but their broad acreage made us feel like they'd be just as happy in an Econoline."

    Re: Suede stain removal

I agree, there is very little REAL suede out there these days.

Most everything is "Alcantara" or at least some other manufacturers version of it. FWIW, the name Alcantara is originally registered to an Italian company/fabric based out of Milano .

SONAX Upholstery and Alcantara Cleaner, best alcantara cleaner
SONAX Upholstery & Alcantara Cleaner is a specially formulated foaming cleaner that is designed to gently clean delicate alcantara surfaces. Alcantara is a composite material that is designed to give the luxurious look and feel of suede at a fraction of the cost. Often found in sports cars and high end luxury cars, alcantara has always been a difficult material to clean – until now! SONAX Upholstery & Alcantara Cleaner is a result of German engineering at its finest!

This link is particularly good. It's a link directly from the Alcantara site to cleaning providers. They even have a nice chart and instructions for various stain removal processes.

"Are those inserts in the faces of the bottom and backs of the seats some type of suede?

If so there's not much you can do outside of a lint brush or one of those Lint Rollers.

You certainly can't use APC without risking affecting the appearance of that type of material. Suede material is probably the most difficult material to try to clean, especially if it gets stained.

Vinyl, Cloth, Leather, anything is easier to maintain.

As for the leather or vinyl side sections you can use APC for these but you can't let it migrate into the suede section and you can't get overspray onto the suede sections.

Ugh... suede looks cool, feels cool, just horrible to have to ever work on

    Re: Suede stain removal

Stain is gone! What I did is used 2 microfiber towels, 1 to damp it with warm water and another to dry it. I didnt rub it too hard just nice and smooth, kept the microfiber damped with warm water and after 4 passes I liked how it came out.
