White Ram molding/trim, what to restore with?

I have a White mid 2000s model Dodge Ram to work on next week and it has door molding that's pretty bad looking. Is there any saving this and what should I try?

A Cleaner Wax like Meguiar's White Wax might bust that out

    Available OTC

Has a bit of cut as well

That trim looks pretty sketchy...you should probably do a small test spot by hand, just to be safe

Yeah it's pretty bad looking. I can't tell if it's fading and losing its surface or it's just covered in grime and oxidation

I agree. Try the cleaner wax and if you get little or no improvement try something like Scratch-X or Ultimate Compound. IME, most trim like that is painted, so you should get results after using a cleaner. I've always used the buffer right over top of it and had no problems personally.

Cool Re: White Ram molding/trim, what to restore with?

In my experience, that type of trim has a slight texture to it and that is why it holds all the dirt and crud. For some reason that type of trim is like a magnet for dirt. It sticks to it but doesn't easily release it. This has been true on the GM and Dodge trucks I've worked on.

I've just used clay and then buffed it just I like I would the paint, watching the edges and ridges. The trim came out perfect but you will see a lot of dirt on your pads.

    Good luck.

It looks to me as though the paint has come off the rubber trim. Ultimate polish or compound or a cleaner wax might remove some of the goo but I think that trim is hosed.
